Fairview Heights - Crossroads of Prosperity

The City of Fairview Heights, located just 15 minutes east of downtown Saint Louis, is a growing community offering all the advantages of a metropolitan location, yet retains its smalltown hospitality. This unique community has become the center of retail trade and tourism for Southwestern Illinois. Fairview Heights is a shopper's paradise with the premier mall, St. Clair Square, and over 60 varieties of restaurants.
The city has dramatically changed from what was once productive farmland into a thriving community. The high standard of living is maintained by dedicated and interested residents who enjoy the quality of their municipal services.

After its incorporation in October of 1969, the city established a Planning Commission to review development plans, a Zoning Board of Appeals, a "Minor Change" Committee and various aldermanic committees.
Additional programs and services designed to meet the needs of the public, along with several advisory boards and volunteer groups all contribute to the desirability of the city as a place to live, work and shop.
Each year, thousands of people visit Fairview Heights for the "Midwest Salute to the Arts Festival of Fine Art" at Longacre Park. Works by more than 100 regional and national artists, selected by jury from thousands of entries, are exhibited for viewing and purchase.

"Recreation Station", a 16,000 square-foot playground created by 2,000 volunteers, is located in Longacre Park.

|
Over 205 acres of land have been set aside to provide a variety of recreational activities. Longacre Park, with ninety-acres, features three ball diamonds, walking and jogging trail, tennis courts, volleyball court and picnic pavilions.
Residents also enjoy the wonderful playgrounds at Pleasant Ridge Park, site of the historic Kinsella Cabin. The ninety-five acre park features roller blading facilities, wintertime sledding and picnic pavilions.
Additional programs and services designed to meet the needs of the public, along with several advisory boards and volunteer groups all contribute to the desirability of the city as a place to live, work and shop.
