EAST ST. LOUIS (SWI-News.com) July 1, 2000 - The opening day of Fair Saint Louis brought out thousands of people to watch the manuvers of military jets and the dazzling formations of seven aerobatic acts over the Arch grounds. Fairgoers braved stormy skies and muggy temperatures to enjoy the food, fun and fireworks during the three-day festival.

On the East Riverbank, the Casino Queen threw a Beach Party Blast with three full days of fun for the whole family including carnival rides, live music and food, as well as a swimsuit competition and a beach volleyball tournament held on 2 million pounds of sand. Partygoers took advantage of the spectacular view across the river to watch all the Fair activities.
Beach Blast
The fabulous Katy Kruze of KSHE radio introduced the contestants for the Beach Blast swimsuit contest. The grand prize winner for Saturday, July 1, was Tracy Nicholas (wearing pink bikini); second place was Sarah Bowling; third place winner was Lorelee Smith; other contestants included: Michelle Craig, Laura Sextor, Angie Robbins, Julie Vane, Menyoun Jorden and Alison Soderholm. Contest was sponsored by Casino Queen, New Lady Fitness and St. Louis Tan.
