Drumvoices "Break Word with the World" Celebrates Release of Drumvoices Revue
EAST ST. LOUIS, IL, (SWI-News.com), October 2, 2003 - The Eugene B. Redmond Writers Club will celebrate the release of Drumvoices Review 10th Anniversary Anthology of Poetry, Fiction & Drama and Eyeball: In Love & Revolution during the Club's annual Break Word on Tuesday, October 7, 6:30 p.m. - 9:00 p.m., in the Banquet Room of the Crown Hotel on the East Saint Louis Riverfront.

Contributors to this 400-page issue include: Ira Jones, Allison Funk, K. Curtis Lyle, Evon Udoh, Michael Castro, Sheryl Johnson, Bruce Petty, Sherman Fowler, Roscoe Crenshaw, Shirley LeFlore, Donna Biffar, Jeffery Skoblow, Remi Raji, Wayne Lanter, Darlene Roy, Eugene B. Redmond, Patricia Merritt, Cheryl D.S. Walker and Chris Hayden.

Highlighting the Anthology, founding editor Eugene B. Redmond writes that "Decades of cultural-literary activism tell the real deal meal - of kilns and cooks in streets and academies."

The free book party is part of an ongoing series of workshops sponsored by the Club with the support of SIUE's English Department, Renaissance Literary Arts Press, East St. Louis Cultural Revival Campaign Committee, Drumvoices Revue, Black River Writers Press, CUAP/SIUE. Workshops are held on the first and third Tuesday, September through May. Meetings focus on literary styles, development of the writer, cultural backgrounds, and special programs such a Kwanzaa and Fresh & Ancestral.
