Landmark Eads Bridge Has Reopened, So How Do Motorists Access It?
EAST ST. LOUIS, IL, (SWI-News.com), July 20, 2003 - The landmark Eads Bridge reopened with great fanfair, July 4, after being closed for more than a decade. The bridge has been used by MetroLink since 1993 as part of the region's light rail system.
Motorists can access the Eads Bridge by taking Third Street Exit from southbound I-70/55, south of I-64 in Illinois.
|
Following extensive rennovation, the upper deck now features two lanes of traffic and a new lane for pedestrians and bicyclists on the south side of the bridge.
From the Illinois side, motorists can access Eads Bridge from southbound Highway I-70/55, by taking the Third Street Exit to River Park Drive (East Broadway) and turning right towards the Casino Queen. Motorists can also take Route 15 into downtown East St. Louis, past City Hall, to River Park Drive. Motorists can take northbound Route 3 into East St. Louis to River Park Drive and turn left to the Casino Queen.
From the Missouri side, motorists can access the Bridge from northbound Memorial Drive at Washington Street in downtown St. Louis. Motorists on southbound I-70, can take the Sixth Street Exit to Broadway to Washington and turn left onto the Bridge.
After crossing the Bridge into Illinois, motorists can turn left at Third Street to access I-70/55 and I-64.
