Annual Celebrity Golf Tournament to Fund the Jones Park Fountain Restoration
EAST ST. LOUIS, IL, (SWI-News.com), September 3, 2007 - The Municipal Fountain in Kenneth Hall-Jones Park in East St. Louis is one of the oldest and largest with
a lily pond system in the southern Illinois area. Over the years, it has lost it grandeur and eventually was drained and closed, becoming another lost asset to the community.

Several years ago, the Emma L. Wilson King Foundation was formed to assist in the revitalization of East St. Louis, beginning with the restoration of the fountain, located near the Jackie Joyner-Kersee Center.
When the proposed $300,000 restoration is complete, the fountain will be renamed the Emma L. Wilson King Memorial Fountain at Jones Park Lagoon.
The Foundation is sponsoring its third annual celebrity golf
tournament on Saturday, September 15th at the Grand Marais Golf Course
in Frank Holten State Park in East St. Louis. Funds raised from the
golf tournament will go toward the restoration of the Municipal Fountain at
Jones Park.
Guests are invited to join celebrities including former St. Louis Cardinals player Dick Allen and Ted Savage, Art Smith of the Harlem Magicians, former basketball star Marques Haynes and former football pro Dana Howard along with other celebrity guests in the tournament.
The entry fee is $100. Sign-up begins at 12:30 p.m. A silent auction
will be held during the tournament and prizes for the top four teams
will be awarded. To help out, one can purchase a brick, make a donation
or enter the celebrity golf tournament. The design that will be used
for this project was created by a Landscape Architect student from the
University of Illinois.
Corporate sponsorship and advertising are also available. For more
information or to sign up contact David King at 866-766-1991.
